WHAT IS “I DRIVE SAFELY LIBERIA”?

"I Drive Safely Liberia" is an online platform designed to brings together the expertise of private sector organizations (Liberia Driver Training Schools Association, LDTSA) the regulatory/oversight (Ministry of Transport, MoT/Road Safety Secretarial RSS) (Ministry of Justice, MoJ/Liberia National Police, LNP), Ministry of Public Works, MPW/ Ministry of Education, MoE) of the Liberian government, agencies responsible transportation, law enforcement, infrastructure development and human resource development.

This service is a 2012 commitment by WoGeS to provide a comprehensive road safety program for Liberia in fulfillment of Liberia PPP framework introduced in 2006 for the private sector to assist Government by providing basis social and economic services for a sustainable Liberia.

In Liberia like many western Countries, the behind-the-wheel driver's assessment is a crucial step in obtaining a driver's license. It evaluates an applicant's ability to safely operate a vehicle under real-world conditions.

The evaluation typically includes:

  • Vehicle Control: Checking how well the driver handles steering, braking, and acceleration.
  • Traffic Rules Compliance: Ensuring the driver follows road signs, signals, and right-of-way rules.
  • Situational Awareness: Assessing the driver’s ability to react to hazards, pedestrians, and other vehicles.
  • Parking Skills: Testing parallel parking, reverse parking, and general maneuvering.
  • Road Safety Practices: Observing defensive driving techniques and adherence to speed limits.

The Ministry of Transport oversees this process, ensuring that applicants meet the required standards before receiving their licenses. The Ministry will be informed of each applicant’s score as soon as the assessment ends.
